I put out fires for a living.
I can take some heat.
But Maisie drives me crazy.
She’s smart-mouthed, sarcastic and argumentative.
This town’s too small for both of us.
But she works for me. Unfortunately.
It’s a big no-no for me to f*ck her.
Every time I lay eyes on her, I want to throw her over my shoulder and find the closest place to get my hands all over her curvy body.
Her eyes flash, her sweet a** swings, and her smart mouth makes my c*ck so hard it aches.
There are different kinds of fire, and this one will make her panties melt.
There’s only one problem: this fire might be too hot for both of us.

Those slow burns can be even hotter!

by LRC

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. J H Croix is a one-click author for me. I love everything she writes. And this book is no exception. This is book 2 in her series about the Alaskan hotshot firefighters. We met both Beck and Maisie as side characters in book 1, Cade and Amelia's book. The fun part is all the characters from Willow Brook appear in this book also, so we'll get to know them like family, like we're from Willow Brook too. Beck has had the hots for Maisie for 2 years, but she's been a little bitchy to everyone. Maisie has never really had a home for this long and she's never been able to count on anyone but herself. Obviously she has trust issues. Her Gram left her everything, but she's alone. People are trying to be friendly but Maisie has walls. Beck is the town's biggest flirt. Fun fireman. His conquests are generally the tourists who are gone in a week. But somehow he doesn't want to give up on Maisie. His feelings for her are different. What's going on? She barely gives him the time of day but he loves teasing her and irritating her. How does Maisie feel? I think you need to read the book because these two are kind of interested and confused. Captivating story. Enjoy.

A hot, sexy read

J.H. Croix gives us a hot, sexy read set in Willow Brook, Alaska and we know she loves Alaska, if you've read any of her Last Frontier Lodge or Diamond Creek, Alaska series. Maisie has been in Alaska working as a dispatcher for two years and Beck is one of the hot, flirty firefighters. Their chemistry is smoking hot and you just know the sparks will fly when they get together. This book will have you laughing out loud at parts as Maisie is a sassy, independent woman that knows how to use her mouth. Grab your copy of the newest Into the Fire book and get ready to read in one sitting.

Unleashed Love

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is an excellent book. The story is one that could actually happen. Beck is a hot flirty firefighter. Maiaie is a dispatcher. Ajob she inherited when her grandmother passed away. Maisie had always depended on no one but herself because of her dads less than stellar ability to take care of his responsibilities. Beck was a native of Alaska. Maisie decided to stay after she learned her Gram had left her everything. No things were not always easy for Beck and Maisie, but they just kept going forward never giving up.

They complement each other quite well. This is a good story and very entertaining. These two have lots of issues to deal with and it is good to see how they work through them.

sexy but frustrating

by Valeen

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Slow Burn is sexy but frustrating. I say frustrating because the relationship between Maisie and Beck had so much back and forth that it frustrated me and lessened my enjoyment of what was actually an interesting, sexy story.

Maisie has been working at the Willow Brook, Alaska, fire station as a dispatcher for two years. She's slowly come to enjoy being around the men, and woman, who make up her colleagues, but she hasn't ever opened up much to any of them. Beck, one of the hot shots, just loves teasing her, flirting if you will, and has been attracted to her since she came to town to visit her Grandma, who used to be the admin/dispatcher. He's like a junior high or high school boy who teases the girl he secretly likes because he doesn't know how else to act around her. Maisie, too, is attracted to Beck, but he's the town flirt and she has no plans on become just another notch on his bedpost. But one day he accidentally sees her naked in the station shower, and from then on, his attraction only heats up and he's determined to have her.

I have to say that Maisie and Beck have an electric connection, but thanks to Maisie's past, she's so hot and cold with him that it drove me nuts. I love how passionate the two are with each other, but every time she shut him down after connecting physically, or she flat out ran off, I wanted to scream. It really frustrated me and lessened my enjoyment of what could have been a 4 star read. I get why Maisie was so determined to be self sufficient, but she was so damn stubborn that I wondered if Beck would ever be able to get through to her. Thank God he finally was able to get through to her, but by then I was kind of done with her.

But, I did ultimately like Slow Burn, and think it's really sexy, and generally well written, so I can see my way to 3 stars. If I could give half stars I would because I really think it's 3.5 stars rather than just 3.

Burning Hot

What a fun, romantic, sexy read. “Slow Burn” gripped me from the first chapter. Maisie is the dispatcher for Willow Brook's Fire and Rescue in Alaska. Beck is a foreman for one of the hotshot crews. There is an attraction that has been sizzling between them for the past 2 years. After seeing Maisie in the shower, Beck can't stop thinking of her. Maisie is very independent being raised without a mother and she is afraid to lean on anyone. Beck is always there to help her and finally Maisie lets him into her heart. I loved this engaging, romantic and smoking hot story. One-click “Slow Burn”, you won't be sorry. Can't wait to read “Burns So Bad”, Levi and Lucy's story.

What a great read!! Beck and Maisie are well written, compelling character, that could be in your circle of friends, she sassy, independent, and not about to fall for Beck's smooth ways. Beck really is attracted to more than just jumping ointo bed with her, but how does he prove that. I love duel POVs and I really enjoy seeing guys try to dig themselves out of the hole they've created for themselves with their playboy ways. Loved this fast moving, smoking hot read.

I have always found stories by J H Croix to be moving, enchanting a nd emotionally engaging. The story of Beck and Maisie are even more engaging as we join the main characters in their internal struggles with how eventful feel for one another. I am of the firm belief that true love changes you for the better. This story is a true example of that.

You will not go wrong with this one....Definitely added to my list of absolute favorites.

Maisie and Beck!

by Kari's Book Reviews

Maisie moved back to Willow Brook and has been the dispatcher for the Fire and Rescue for the last two years after her grandmother passed away and made her the sole heir.

Beck leads one of the hotshot crews and is known to have no shortage of female attention.

Maisie thought her day couldn’t get any worse as she needed to take a shower at the station due to no hot water at home but when Beck walks in on her she wanted to crawl through the drainpipe. Seeing Maisie au naturel made the attraction that Beck had been feeling towards Maisie explode. Will he be able to convince Maisie that he is interested in more than a one time thing and how will this affect their working relationship?

I like both these characters as Beck slowly but surely was able to break down the walls that surrounded Maisie and show that he was someone she could trust. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Beck and Maisie are freaking hot. I love their story and how awkward Maisie is and how Beck grounds her. I also found this book funny with all of Herman's climbing.
