"Just let me love you."

When Maleen King's father catches her naked in the hay loft with her high school sweetheart, he sends the eighteen-year-old away to receive a college education and rise above the humble beginnings of an Idaho dairy farm. Now fourteen years later, Mal comes home to run the farm after the death of her father. The stress of a disastrous marriage and being a NYC stockbroker made her long to return to a simple life.

Braydon Daniels, devastated when Mal's father sent her thousands of miles away, has thought about her every day since. Now, over a decade later, he finds himself alone, divorced, and beaten down by the trauma of his broken marriage. When Mal comes back to town for her father's funeral, he realizes the feelings he once had for her are just as strong. There's one little snag, though. His ex-wife is the woman Mal has hated her whole life. And they have a child together.

Despite the struggle to recover from their past relationships, the undeniable attraction between them still exists. Can they rekindle the passion they once had?

NOTE: This novella is loosely based on the Grimm's Fairy Tale "Maid Maleen."

quite lovely

by Ashley Magruder

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I remember this fairytale from when I was growing up... This modern redoing of it is quite interesting... I didn't know if I was going to like it in the beginning or not because some of the Grimms fairy tales I don't like but the modern versions are better so that's why I decided to give it a try... so it turned out to be a wonderful redoing romantic loving of the book and I think the couple that was in the book deserved the happiness that they received even though her father tried to prevent it...

Can Separated Love Survive a Decade?

by MJM2003

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Mal's father sent her away to school when he caught her naked in the hay loft with Braydon. She comes back 14 years later and the lust and love between her and Braydon is still there. But he married her worst enemy and had a child with her before they divorced. Love isn't going to run smoothly for these two. Jeanne St. James has written beautifully the emotions running throughout this book that it is compelling to keep reading page after page to arrive at their HEA. I felt so sorry for them both as they had lost so much precious time together. Through the book the characters develop over the years and finally arrive at a point where circumstances may let them have their HEA but will his ex cause more disruption? A real page turner of a story. definitely recommended!

Second chance is worth it

by Che

This story's plot is surprisingly new for me. Not the usual second chance romance that came out of the angst or misunderstanding of the previous relationship. This one is a result from an unintentional abrupt ending. Even though this is a short story, it satisfies. Though I would prefer that there's more interaction between Mal, Kaitlyn, Bray and Nate - to settle their issues and not just directed to the epilogue.
