Rick Ferguson is the author of soon-to-be-best-selling “heavy metal” fantasy trilogy "The Chronicles of Elberon." The first volume in the series, "The Screaming Skull," will be published in the fall of 2018 by Phabulousity Press. The seond volume, "The Mace of Malice," will follow in 2019, and the final volume in the trilogy, "The Crown of Chaos," will appear in 2020.
"The Screaming Skull," the first volume in the trilogy, draws on literary inspirations from both within and outside the heroic fantasy genre to craft a gripping tale that is equal parts a gentle satire of and a loving homage to the classics of fantasy fiction. It’s a tale where Tolkien, Moorcock, and Pratchett meet Vonnegut, Heller, and Monty Python. The novel is also a love letter to fantasy role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons. It’s chock full of inside jokes, sly references to classic heavy metal bands, and meta-commentaries on fantasy fiction, role-playing games, and the nature of reality itself.
When not crafting epic tales of high adventure, Ferguson is a globally recognized marketing expert with appearances in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Advertising Age, Fast Company, the Globe & Mail in Canada, the Guardian in the United Kingdom, the Financial Times in India, MSNBC, and the Fox Business Channel. He has delivered keynote speeches on marketing principles and best practices on six continents. He is also a master of time, space, and dimension. He lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife Allison, son Ian, and cat Penny.
