I'm an American that has been living in China for ten years. I write mostly short biographical pieces, political pamphlets, and potentially science fiction.
Neal Postman's book Amusing Ourselves to Death has changed my life. We live in the Age of Show Business, where people talk past each other, not wanting to miss a chance to get in their soundbite. I want to try and change that. I intend to write short pamphlets that challenge politicians and provides them with an opportunity to not just spout off yet another soundbite. I hope others will follow suit.
Given the times we live in, I doubt that this will amount to much. But I don't see anyone trying to do what I want to do. So I might as well try it. Out of respect for Thomas Paine I will try to refrain from writing anything greater than fifty pages.
Yours in liberty,
