I was brought up in a village in York in a house that dates from the late 18th century. That, and the beautiful old city, inspired an early interest in history. My interest in the Regency period began when my mother introduced me to the novels of Georgette Heyer. From there, it was an easy step to the works of Jane Austen. I was fortunate enough to be able to study Jane Austen in depth as one of my specialisms for my Master of Arts degree at Leeds University. I went on to be a teacher, and though I have sometimes experienced the feeling of casting “pearls before swine” (Matthew 7:6), I hope that I have also inspired a love of Jane Austen in many of my pupils. I started writing Jane Austen Fan Fiction a few years ago, and achieved some success with a story entitled A Night at Pemberley. Following that I wrote several other Jane Austen variations, and have recently started to write original Regency Romances.
