I graduated from Columbia in 1974 with a degree in English before going on to medical school at Northwestern. I have had a long career as an academic anesthesiologist, with over 40 scientific publications. I began writing fiction many years ago. My first novel, Edward Maret: A Novel of the Future, was published in 2001. To date, I am the author of six science fiction novels, Edward Maret, The Cannibal's Feast and the four books of The Chronicles of the Second Interstellar Empire of Mankind: The Game Players of Meridien, The City of Ashes, The Empire of Dust and The Empire of Ruin. I am also the author of the Kurtz and Barent Mystery series: Surgical Risk, The Anatomy Lesson, Seizure, The Chairmen, and the soon to be published, Brighton Beach.
