Lori Switaj McCormick is an award-winning reporter, author and columnist. The Boston College graduate grew in the NYC exurb of Pearl RiverNew York and relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1985.
Lori is a longtime hockey player and coach and it was on the ice where she met illustrator Michael Morris, who had the misfortune of facing off against her. Lori is the mother of two grown children, Matthew and Lynn, who provided her with lots of column fodder over the years, but little quiet.
She began her career as a freelance journalist in 1992 before becoming a reporter, and then editor, for a local newspaper. Afterwards, she joined AOL Media/Huffington Post as a digital reporter and editor.
Lori has also been published in The Plain Dealer, Sun Newspapers, Cleveland Parent Magazine and numerous online humor sites. Her former humor column, WordPlay, was a local favorite. She has won more than a dozen local and state awards for Best Column, Headline Writing, Investigative Journalism, Features and Opinion categories.
She subscribes the philosophy, "Act like a 12-year-old once a day."
Lori lives in Downtown Cleveland with her husband, Cuyahoga County Judge Timothy McCormick and their rescue dog Jackie.
