Hi! I am Edymar, author of “The Monster Who Loved Throwing Stones,” a journalist and a proud mom.
While I have always loved written words and I have quite a few notebooks filled with notes and unfinished drafts with different stories, I never took a step further with them. It was not until my five-year-old boy told me the story of a monster “who loved throwing stones,” and I started writing it for him and his two-year-old sister (guess what, she also loves throwing stones!), that it clicked that I had to finally get my stories (in this case our story) out to the world.
Who am I?
- A Venezuelan by birth, though love led me to Norway a few years ago. I am happily married to an awesome Norwegian man and have two wonderful kids and a now grown up bonus son.
- I am a journalist (a natural path for someone in love with writing) and worked for one of the biggest newspapers in Venezuela during the early 2000’s. I even won a prize at that time.
- My mother tongue is Spanish, but I have been speaking English for quite a long time. I was 16 years old when I got a scholarship to study in the United States, so I went to school in a little town in Mount Hermon, Massachusetts (Northfield Mount Hermon School, anyone?). Afterwards I went further to study Cinema and Mass Communications at Denison University in another little town. This time in Granville, Ohio.
- In addition to English and Spanish, I speak and write in Norwegian. I used to have a basic knowledge of French but I lost it completely when I started learning Norwegian.
